🚨 Coming in August: Twice the Adventures!
I'm thrilled over the significant increase in the number of you interested in being featured in a Spotlight! It's great to see you’re enjoying them, and as of today, I have over 30 of you interested in being featured. 🚀 With so many, I'm re-evaluating how frequently to publish the newsletter and considering how I might restructure it a bit. For now, I've decided to publish twice a month starting in August!
As always, let me know if you have any suggestions or requests for things you'd like to see in these.
Adventurer Spotlight #10 with @littlerubysubie
Welcome to the Adventurer Spotlight, an interview series with Adventurers from our newsletter about their life with their Subaru. Here, we find out more about the person behind the wheel and get inspired to embark on new adventures.
Before we get to this month’s feature, I’d like to thank John / @j_ross__foz again for being in last month’s Spotlight. Now, let’s jump into our 10th edition!
Introduction
Hi, I’m Jim, AKA @LittleRubySubie. I am a husband, father, Subaru Ambassador, Eagle Scout, and overall outdoorsman.
Which Subaru do you own? What do you like most about it?
I drive a 2015 Outback Premium. I love how capable it is. Even before my modifications, it handled everything I threw at it. I have pushed this car to its limits and it keeps coming back for more.
Why did you choose a Subaru? How many have you owned?
I chose Subaru because of how awesome the cars are and my buddy owns a Subaru dealership. I have owned four Subarus: two Outbacks, a Legacy, and an Ascent.
Have you made any modifications?
I have made quite a few modifications:
* Spiked Performance Hood Louvers
* Pirelli Scorpion AT Plus
* SS3 fog lights/roof lights
* Spot lights switch
* Tuff Country 2” lift
* Nilight LED ditch lights
* Maxi Trac awning
* NashFabCo version 2.0 ladder
* Midland USA MXT275 radio
* Anderson Design Fabrication CVT insert
* Primitive Racing overload springs
* Cargo basket w/ shovel and axe
* Full size spare
* Torkliftcentral EcoHitch
* Road sign Skid Plate
* STI Muffler
* Resonator delete
* Auxito LED headlights
* Auxito Footwell Lights
* Snorkel
* Scrub Blade Wipers
* Viper cut front bumper
What would you like to add to your setup?
I would love to add a proper off-road suspension. My spacer kit does a great job, but long travel suspension would really take my rig to the next level. I would also like to add a diff locker.
Favorite road trip? Or favorite thing to do in your Subaru?
One of my favorite off-road trips was with MtnRoo Tristate. We spent two days off-roading and cleaning up the Turkey Swamp Wildlife Management Area. After the two days, we removed 10,557 pounds of trash. There was a short steep trail that really pushed my cars abilities.
I am also super stoked to be attending Wicked Big Meet and Boxerfest this year! I’m looking forward to meeting up with new and old friends up there.
Have a favorite picture of your car?
From my most recent off-road trip. There is a huge sandpit with some ravines. I managed to 3-wheel my car with my rear tire about four feet off the ground.
Jim, thanks for being in the Spotlight and sharing your Subie story with us! Your Outback is a great build and I love the pictures of your adventures. Have a great time at Wicked Big Meet and Boxerfest!

🤖 That AI Crosstrek Post
If you're not on Instagram much these days, you may have missed this post of a wild AI Crosstrek by @subie_ai. Be sure to check out their page! And thanks to @socialsubaru for inviting me to collaborate on the post with them!
📅 2024 Crosstrek 2.5L YouTube Reviews
Earlier this year, reviews for the 2024 Crosstrek with the 2.0L hit YouTube. Recently, reviews of the 2.5L model have dropped. Here’s a few I liked that I thought I’d share.
I’ve had my 2023 Crosstrek Limited with the 2.5L engine for about four months and I’ve been happy with its performance. Sure, it’s not the same as my Forester XT, but it’s been fine for me. A Crosstrek XT though…yeah, yeah, I know, keep dreaming. 🤣

🎁 The Wrap-Up
‼️ Due to over-sensitive brake light switches, Subaru will be issuing a recall for 4,030 2023 Impreza models. The improperly set switches could result in the brake lights coming on even if the driver is not applying the brakes. Owners will start to be notified of the recall later this month.
📺️ There's more and more technology being added to vehicles, and while it's certainly accelerated, it's not new. Even back in 1984, Datsun (now Nissan) had a talking Maxima.
👕 Pick up a shirt! Remember, a fine collection of Subie Adventures T-shirts and more is available if you'd like to grab one to support the page and newsletter. Thanks!
That’s all for now!
